gambling reform appg comments on reports of gambling ads appearing in children’s games

Gambling Reform APPG Chair, Sir Iain Duncan Smith stated: “Gambling companies should not be directly targeting children with gambling adverts and here we are talking about very young children. That they are appearing in games being listed as appropriate for 4 years old beggars belief and the vast majority of parents probably do not even realise that their children are being targeted in this way. There are multiple appalling failures here by the companies themselves, the regulators, the games and at the platform level. These must immediately be addressed.”

Labour MP John Slinger, who sits on the Gambling Reform All Party Parliamentary Group added his concern: “This is unacceptable and dangerous”.

Labour MP Beccy Cooper, who also sits on the Gambling Reform All Party Parliamentary Group, said: “Attracting people at a young age is unacceptable and detrimental to development and health, but does give them a healthy bottom line.”
